At Old School Prep we aim to generate a typically English Primary school environment where children of ages 5 - 12 can socialise and learn. From 2pm to 4pm and the Performing Arts group from 4.30pm to 6pm.

To ensure continuity and progression in the teaching of Literacy, the children are grouped into KS1 (5-8yrs ) with Daniele and Anita, and KS2 (8-12yrs) with Jane.

We believe that the development of language and literacy skills is of the highest priority. We have a diverse intake of children who speak both French and English. Whilst we value all languages, our aim is for all children to develop the necessary skills to become effective users of the English language.

We teach English language rules, grammar and phonics in interesting and interactive ways through the use of shared reading, story telling, songs, craft - whilst paying regard to the National Curriculum guidance for English schools in reading and writing.

Reading and writing in English is an important skill and we aim for our children to develop this skill with a love of literature, coupled with the opportunity to keep up with the standard required if you would eventually like your children to have a GCSE English qualification to compliment their French studies and if, in the future, you might move to an English speaking country where this qualification is highly sought after.

For our French children, we are committed to helping them to become bilingual, have the advantage of speaking and understanding English and preparing them for their second language study at College or Lycée.

Wordy Wednesdays has existed for the past 8 years and we are proud to say that with the highly skilled and professional staff team in place, all of our pupils progress extremely well with their English studies and eventually move up to the pre GCSE English classes that take place on Wednesday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm, for college students who wish to complement their Brevet and Baccalaureate with the IGCSE English Language qualification.

First Child: 12 Euros per lesson
Siblings: 10 Euros per lesson

Junior Performing Arts

The Junior Performing Arts group takes place from 4.30pm to 6pm every Wednesday.
During the year, Royston will be helping the children and young people to devise their own sketches and productions, will introduce some singing sessions and empower the participants to have the confidence to stand up and truly shine whilst having great fun, in English!! For comfort, all participants are encouraged to wear something loose and comfortable - t shirt or sweater and trousers, flat shoes or trainers. We will provide a drink and a snack for the first week and you are welcome to send your child with further snacks as we know that Wednesdays are busy with activities and can be tiring. We have places available, our doors are always open, so if you know of any other families who may be interested in joining our Junior Performing Arts group then please feel free to pass on our details.

This activity is free of charge, however membership of the association at 25 Euros per family per year is essential

We welcome all families who would like their children to benefit from professional education support for bilingual children, whilst offering a clear progression path to enhance and compliment their French studies. Please get in touch if you would like to bring your children along to any of the activities on offer at The Language Lab.
