[EN] Tomorrow will be the 80th anniversary of VE Day. Earlier today, the whole school joined in with the Victory in Europe commemoration which was held at the War Memorial in Monbahus this morning at 11 o’clock. VE Day is commemorated as a public holiday tomorrow, 8th May, and remembers the end of the Second World War throughout Europe. The mayor made reference to the importance of this date and the end of tyranny, oppression and repression during the years 1939 – 1945.
It is particularly important to reflect on this momentous occasion in the troubling world that we live in today, where there is sadly a lack of focus on tolerance and an active promotion of division, with all of its consequences. It was therefore especially appropriate and poignant that this event had multicultural representation, bringing people together, young and old, and it is with great pride that two of our students were asked to lay the wreath at the memorial in honour of the fallen.

Plus tôt dans la journée, toute l'école s'est jointe à la commémoration de la Victoire en Europe qui s'est tenue au monument aux morts de Monbahus ce matin à 11 heures. Le jour de la Victoire en Europe est un jour férié qui sera célébré demain, le 8 mai, et qui commémore la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale dans toute l'Europe. Le maire a rappelé l'importance de cette date et la fin de la tyrannie, de l'oppression et de la répression au cours des années 1939-1945.
Il est particulièrement important de réfléchir à cette occasion mémorable dans le monde troublant dans lequel nous vivons aujourd'hui, où il y a malheureusement un manque d'intérêt pour la tolérance et une promotion active de la division, avec toutes ses conséquences. Il était donc particulièrement approprié et poignant que cet événement ait une représentation multiculturelle, rassemblant les gens, jeunes et vieux, et c'est avec une grande fierté que deux de nos étudiants ont été invités à déposer une gerbe au mémorial en l'honneur de ceux qui sont tombés au champ d'honneur.
